Overview

Defending a Guest WiFi network may be difficult. Since you don’t have access to a device, you are limited to implementing network security measures only. Solution

By implementing SecurityHive DNS Guard, all DNS queries on the network are automatically forced to pass through SecurityHive’s filters defined by the network administrator. The administrator only has to configure the categories (ransomware, torrents, piracy, threat intelligence, porn, ..) to block. SecurityHive DNS Guard will compare all DNS queries against its (threat intelligence) feeds and algorithms. Users will be shown a block page, and malicious connections will be prevented.

Most solutions need to get deployed on devices and require attention from the network administrator. SecurityHive DNS Guard doesn’t require this. Unlike most competitors, SecurityHive has a flexible policy configuration, allowing different rulesets per network. Also, SecurityHive can adopt its pricing and deployment models according to scenarios with limited budget and deployment capabilities.

Results

The public library implemented SecurityHive DNS Guard within 15 minutes of starting the trial. Their network administrator only had to change their public DNS resolvers, enforce a firewall rule for DNS traffic, and select the necessary policies. Within 15 minutes, the Guest WiFi network was secured, and the results started showing up.
